It's the first game of the opening league season where Ifeanyi Ubah FC played away to Kano Pillars at the Sani-Abacha Stadium in Kano. The game was impressive from the first minute at the sound of the referee's whistle, marking the signs of good things to come in the league season. The match lived up to the hype for an opening fixture with thousand in attendance including the Executive Governor of Kano State.
However, as the game progressed, in the 30th minute Kano Pillars took the lead through Gambo Mohammed after an Ifeanyi Ubah goal was disallowed by the Oyo State referee Folusho Ajayi and that was the scoreline till the break of 45minutes for the first half of the game.
The Ifeanyi Ubah side began protest claiming the goal was legitimate and this led to the referee sending off an Ifeanyi Ubah official to the stands for unsportsmanlike behavior. Things escalated more than it should as the whole team refused to continue the game leading to the match been abandoned.
To no avail did the plea of the match commissioner to the Ifeanyi Ubah team to continue the game but they blatantly refused.
We wait to hear the verdict from the League management Company following this incident.
