On the Victory of the soldiers conquering Boko Haram and taking over the Sambisa Forest
"
Join me to again acknowledge the heroic efforts of our military and other security agencies on their remarkable successes against terrorism.
Following the successful capture of Sambisa Forest, we have entered a new phase in our battle against our common enemy, Boko Haram. In 2016, 22 of our beloved Chibok girls were reunited with their families, giving us hope that those still in captivity will return safely".
On Terrorism
"
To support the war on terror I urge all Nigerians to watch out for strange figures in their communities, and report to security agencies. The support of all Nigerians for the work of our security agencies is crucial in our bid to effectively secure our country. On our own part we will ensure that misguided elements who take up arms against constituted authorities face the full weight of the law. The joyful, voluntary return of thousands of IDPs to Damasak, Borno State on Christmas Day reassures us that more of such is imminent. We will spare no effort in seeing to the resettlement and rehabilitation of the unfortunate victims of terrorism and insurgency. I urge state governments, privileged Nigerians, donor agencies and countries to redouble their contributions towards this goal".
We're aware of some mistakes & wrongdoings in the handling of IDPs,and are taking measures to correct those mistakes and punish the culprits.
On Security
"
In this New Year the lingering security issues in several states will be frontally addressed. Our defence and security forces are more than ever before ready to perform their constitutional role of protecting lives and property".
An African proverb says, "it is easy to break a broomstick but not a bunch”. Nigeria is a bunch and is more than equal to all troublemakers". (Talking about all hands should be on deck to support the external fight facing the country.)
About the New Year in Review
"
2017 provides an opportunity for us to build on those aspects of our national life that unite us. We are courageous, hardworking, hospitable, steadfast and resilient people, even in the face of difficulties.
We have succeeded in harnessing our diversity for national development. We must continue to support one another and live together as one. We will continue to pursue peace in the Niger Delta.Again I call on our dissatisfied brothers in the region to come to the negotiating table.
All who have taken to violent disruptions of economic infrastructure should instead join hands with us to find peace and ensure development".
On the Sharia Law
"
Our brothers and sisters of the Shia Community, we equally urge you to embrace peace. You must accept the laws of the country you live in. I also acknowledge and assert that the law enforcement agencies must treat our Shia brethren humanely and according to the rule of law".
On the Economy
"
On our efforts to turn around the economy, fight corruption, and diversify from oil & gas, I am encouraged that we are getting things right. Our Agric revolution has begun. Farmers across Nigeria are experiencing bumper harvests; and states are getting into strategic partnerships.
I am optimistic that the CHANGE you voted for in 2015 will manifest more and be sustained in different sectors, in 2017. Our economic recovery and growth plan in 2017 is anchored on optimizing the use of local content and empowering local businesses".
On Made in Nigeria Products
"
In pursuit of our administration’s philosophy, we will continue to appeal that we buy "Made In Nigeria" goods. Farmers, SMEs, agro-allied businesses, dressmakers, entertainers, technology start-ups, will remain the true drivers of our economic future. They are the engine of our economic recovery, and their needs underpin our Economic Recovery and Growth Plan for 2017".
On Corruption
"
Our determination to wrestle corruption to the ground remains unshaken, and will be guided by respect for the rule of law and due process. Our war on corruption will not spare any person, or organ of government. It will be unthinkable on my part to allow the boat of the anti-corruption campaign — a key campaign promise — capsize mid-stream".

I thank you for the public support for our administration’s efforts to transform Nigeria. I assure you again that the current pains are temporary and will ease when the economic seeds in gestation begin to bloom to fruition. I urge you to continue to support this administration in its effort to transform Nigeria for the good of all.
