The just concluded Nigeria reality TV show 'Big Brother Naija' hosted in South Africa and anchored by ex-Big Brother Nigeria 2006 contestant, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has being under huge criticisms by some Nigerian faithfuls who feel the show was a waste of time and display of immoral act.
Some feel, the show do not depict the culture and heritage of the country while others feel it took away attention from citizens thereby making them forget the perilous times the country was facing. To add salt to injury, many felt the show actually was a distraction to Nigerian youths and the future kids who in cause of voting had to spend more than they earned or had to make do with in the present high standards of living.
It wasn't an open secret that the show on kick-off was under heavy criticism following the choice of venue and other logistics involved. However, as time passed by and with proper orientation and enlightenment, Nigerians began to appreciate the reason the show wasn't hosted in the country at the first place.
That didn't stop the castigation the show received as some well-respected and recognized citizens offered their own fair share of bitter opinions.
Here is what Fola Adekeye an educationist, news magazine journalist and Senior Assistant Editor, TELL who lives in the UK said about the show:
"Go to University of Toronto and see how Marlboro singlehandedly built and furnished Faculty of Finance.
You are here in Nigeria, applauding and drooling as corporate organizations turn our daughters into prostitutes on giant TV screens in the name Big Brother Nonsense!
I watched the other day and saw a white-haired old man dancing sickening Makosa on Tv with his over-sized wife and college daughters all for some Maltina cans!
Please who took away our shared sense of dignity and decency?
E gba mi ooo!
Hell is here!"
It didn't end there because the General overseer of the famous Mount Zion Faith Ministries, Pastor Mike Bamiloye was subtle with his opinion but passed a message of discontempt about the show on the church's official Instagram page.
Read his comments:
"They kissed, they romanced before the cameras of Africa and they were honoured and glorified. at times, the glories of this world make the children of the kingdom look stupid. I hope some kingdom children will not begin to envy this type of worldly glories.
What does this teach our youths now? Glamouring and glorifying immorality before the cameras of the world can fetch you millions and make you a celebrity overnight? I hope some pastors will not begin to make references to this as a work of god's grace."
Pastor Mike Bamiloye posted about the show on his official twitter handle.

With all these criticisms, it seems it didn't stop Nigerians from enjoying themselves because the show was a trending topic on twitter Nigeria [TwitterNG] from the start to the finish and it accumulated over 12M tweets and more during the duration of the show.
It didn't end there because voting and campaigning were another denouement of the show as Nigerians voted for their favourite contestants to the extent an accumulated 33Million Naira was realized for a week's vote.
ICYMI: Efe won the show.
