Recently, the trends have been on the reform or liquidation of the other section of the Nigerian Police called 'SARS'. Due to their incessant attack and niferous attitude while discharging their duties, innocent lives has being taken and several forms of arrest without warrant was also part of their irregularities.
Nigerians lend their voice on social media calling on the attention of those at the helm of affairs to call the special operative section of the police to order bringing to their table the various encounters faced with the SARS.

However, on the 22nd of December, the Inspector General of Police organized a lecture with the FSARS commanders on standard operational procedures. This round table meeting was centered on the recent complains and cry by Nigerians on social media on the #ReformSARS highlighting on the concerns & Counter agitation & also painstakingly appropriated the valuable inputs from the Nigeria populace in democratic policing.
To stem the remote concerns generated by perceived inadequacies of the SARS Operatives; the Nigerian Police Force during the meeting resulted to the following conclusion:
- The designation of the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations to lead SARS as the Strategic Commander.
- The appointment of a Commissioner of Police as a field Commander of all activities related to SARS.
- All SARS Operatives are answerable to the DIG Operations through the CP FSARS and Commissioners of Police of the Commands
- The direct supervision of SARS operation in each state command under the Commissioner of Police in charge of the state via the DCP / ACP ops
- Psychometric test, training and continue assessment of operatives deployed to SARS to determine the suitability

Part of the reformation includes the role of SARS in keeping with acceptable standard operating procedure which includes:
- The sole mandate to prevent, confront and solve cases related to aimed robbery and other violent crimes.
- Prohibition from conducting stop and search on roads unless when necessary.
- Prohibition of SARS Operatives to act as body-body-guards, delving into land matters, personal disputes, debt collection & civil matters.
- Embark on operations only on the permission of the CP SARS and /or DCPs/ACPs Operations in the Commands they are answerable to Operate in official uniform clearly marked for identification.
- Operations to be conducted in a non-disciplinary, proportionary, fair and accountable manner

In an official statement put up by the IGP, it states that the NPF operations shall strictly be guided by the human rights principles as enshrined under the UN Charters on human rights. Therefore, part of the verdict states that SARS Operations henceforth shall be monitored by the monitoring units and X-Squad and other oversight units of the Force.
The NPF also pleaded with Nigerian citizens to encouraged and lend a helping hand to avail the police ways to improve SARS Operations, across the nation.
