AMAA 2019 Winners

The 2019 African Movie Academy Awards AMAA took place at the Landmark Event Center in Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria. The even was hosted by award-winning Radio presenter, Actor and Filmmaker Lorenzo Menakaya, Comedian and Actor FunnyBone and Event Host Lala Akindoju. 

The red carpet was stunning with surprising guest from the Big Brother Naija house: Omoshola and Seyi. A light tone from female talking drummer, Ara to ease the tension of the audience, was followed by ravishing performance from Afro-Music Veteran Shina Peters.  

King of Boys recorded the biggest nominations hence racking up wins from accumulated votes. Adesuwa Etomi, won the Best Actress in a Supporting role and the movie King of Boys won the NFVCB award. 

The Full Winners are:-
1. Michael Ayiam Osigwe Award for Best Film by an African - Born Director:- Julius Amedume - Rattlesnake 

2. Best Diaspora Documentary: My Friend Fela (Brazil) 

3. Best Diaspora Short Film: Bali (UK) 

4. Best Achievement in Visual Effects: The Delivery Boy - Nigeria

5. National Film and Video Censors Board(NFVCB) Award for Best Nigerian Film: King Of Boys - Nigeria

6. Best Diaspora Narrative Feature: Hero (Trinidad & Tobago) 

7. Best Achievement in Production Design: Redemption - Mozambique 

8. Best Achievement in Costume Design: Sew in the Winter to my Skin - Rwanda 

9. Best Achievement in Make-up: Mercy of the Jungle - Rwanda

10. Best Achievement in Soundtrack: Mabata Bata - Mozambique 

11. Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Adesuwa Etomi Wellington - King of Boys

12. Best Actress in a Leading Role: Sola Sobowale - King of Boys
