The 2021 AMAA Nominations

The nominations for the most prestigious African Movies Academy Awards has been released, like always, the awards nominees cuts across the movie industry in Africa and several category sponsored by individuals which also covers the other continent gets a chance in this year’s ceremony.

The most nominated films are: Somalia’s The Gravedigger’s Wife, Uganda’s Stain, Tanzania’s Nyara, South Africa’s Hotel on the Koppies, Nigeria’s Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Eyimofe and Tecora gaining the attention of the judges and  Academy Members earning themselves spots in virtually every category.

Funke Akindele-Bello will slug it out with Rita Dominic and Phumi Mthembu for the 2021 Best actress in a lead role award, while Ini Edo, Gloria Anozie-Young and Hazel Hinda are up for the Supporting Actress award 2021. Bimbo Manuel didn’t go unnoticed for his effort in Gone earning him a nomination spot alongside Mulshid Mugabire and Cameron Scott for the 2021 actor in a supporting role.
