2022 Ballon D’or: Karim Benzema Crowned The Best Player in the World in a La Liga Revolution

The 2022 Ballon D’or ceremony took place at the Theater Du Chatelet in Paris, France on Monday at 20:00 CET. Ever since the 2021 edition, the organizing committee, France Football, decided to change the criteria for winning the most prestigious prize in European football. This means that, the award no longer put into consideration the calendar year, rather, the whole season calendar is now used as a yardstick to judge who will be crowned the Ballon D’or winner.

Out of the 30players who were nominated, record and current holder Lionel Messi wasn’t nominated, alongside teammate Neymar Jr, and other notable names.

The host for the Ballon D’or awards remains the ex-Chelsea and Cote D’Ivoire legend Didier Drogba and French Journalist & Animatrice TV for Franco-Britannique, Sandy Heribert.
