AFRICA BID FOR 10 SPOTS IN THE 2026 WORLD CUP

The 2026 World Cup could be a historic event for African Continent after the Press reports that the Presidents of the African Federations have submitted a bid to get 10 qualifying spots for Africa in the World Cup. The implication of this notion is, that Africa will have a doubled spot from FIVE to TEN in that edition.

Reports emanating from L'Equipe magazine states that Africa is trying to benefit from the presence of FIFA President Gianni Infantino who visited South Africa recently. In Lieu to the expansion of the Upcoming World Cup by  the FIFA Organizing Body, there will be 48 Nations competing for the first time since its inception.

The president of the South African Federation told the press: “All the African federations support this idea and we hope that FIFA will help us to make that dream come true”.


However, the response from FIFA is yet to be received.
