MY STORY: HOW I WAS ARRESTED BY POLICEMEN

Is the Police truly your friend? This is my story. A true life story.

The incident happened on Thursday, 9th March 2017. I witnessed a fight between Policemen and a bus driver with his conductor. We were sited outside the road when some group of Policemen in a haggered looking red Toyota Camry acousted a bus along the major road.

They came down from their vehicle and trapped down the bus man with his conductor. They opened the driver's seat and started dragging the keys with the driver who blatantly refused. It got to the point, they started fighting over who gets the key. In course of dragging, the key broke inside the key hole and the driver came down and started crying and shouting saying he just borrowed money from somebody few minutes ago to repair the bus key.
My story with the police
It didn't get to the ears of the Policemen who wanted to drive the bus away under coersion. The bus conductor noticed it and knelt infront of one of the Policemen, bowed down before him three times, with a rag in his hands, he used it to clean the shoe of the Policeman. To no avail, the Policeman shrugged off his legs and the conductor fell to the other side. He went to meet with the others so they can move the bus away.
Due to the key been bad, the bus could not start, so they opted to push it by any means. The bus driver, then rushed and slept under the bus so as a means to defend his bus from being taken away.

This singular act of display from the conductor drew the attention of people and before we could know it, the major road was filled with passer-by who stood to watch. I also crossed over with my phone on my hand to see for myself and get a clearer view, while this was going on, there was a huge traffic jam on the road of cars driving slowly to see for themselves. The conductor was that stubborn, he pulled off his shirt and removed his slippers lamenting, "We go die here today, una no go carry our motor comot for nothing".

The Policeman who entered the bus tried to kick start the vehicle and move forward, I don't know how he managed to do it when somebody shouted "Driver dey under moto oooo". The bus driver was a lucky man because his head would have been smashed by the front tyre of his own bus. The sight was shocking when the Policeman abruptly stopped the bus just when the tyre close to his head.
The other Policemen were shouting "Kill am, as him wan die". Everywhere was silent.

I thought it will bring a form of remorse but the Policeman continued to try to push the bus away from the spot on the major road. This was when the driver came out from under the bus and hurriedly rushed towards the door of the driver's seat to continue in his quest to stop the Policemen from moving his bus away.

The Policeman driving the bus came down and went for the battery of the bus, the driver sighted him and rushed into the bus and another set of dragging continued to the extent one of the Policemen used his headguns on the hand of the driver who with all determination held firm unto the battery.

This was the point that caught my interest and I remembered I had a phone in my pocket. But before then, I had already taken a shot of the scene where the driver was under the bus. Things got boring so I paused it and put the phone back in my pocket. I brought out my phone again, this time with a further shot, far a bit from the scene and started taking video shots, unluckily for me, the camera flash light was on.
I never knew that one  of the Policeman who tried to come into the bus from the drivers side sighted me, immediately he corked his gun to the air, put it to the left hand and dragged me by the waist to the point they parked their car. He took my phone and called the attention of others who left the bus driver and met another fish, I was the next big fish.

That was how the bus driver and his conductor manage to push their bus hurriedly and left from the wicked hands of the Policemen who threatened me that I had allowed their culprit who bashed their car to go free.

Before, I could know what was going on, one of them brought out a handcuff and cuffed my right hand. This drew more attention and the whole neighborhood gathered and was surprised at the new development.
They wanted to take me away immediately but the people around protested and behaved as if they wanted to cover the way of the force-men, this made the Policemen afraid and decided to cork their gun in pretense they wanted to pull the trigger. Well, you know people, they shifted for their life.

This was when I turned back and looked across the road and made a sign with my mouth for people to alert my brother. Luckily for me, my brother, sisters and other well-wishers came around. My brother was furious that he started a fierce argument with the Policemen. He blatantly refused them to take me away. It got even worse, they had to cuff my other hand and asked me to sit in the car. I was that obedient, I decided to sit in their car while they continued to argue with my brother. The scene was so hot that, I felt bang in my heads.

All I heard the Policemen say was, I was trying to capture their faces, that was when I told them that I didn't capture their face but the scene that if they wanted they should watch the video clip to confirm my claim.

They kept deaf ears and maintained their stand. After every arguement, they decided they will take me to the station. My brother said ok and asked them their division, they told him and drove me away while my brother entered his car and followed suit.

However, while they were driving me to the station, the policemen threatened me inside the car saying they will take me to jail on infringing on their personal right. I laughed inside my mind and gave a big grin to the policeman sitting next to me. While driving to the station, my brother phoned the D.P.O who in-turn called them, I wasn't interested in their conversation but the only thing I heard was, "na  your brother? Ok, I no go gree for this thing him do today, I go use am set example".

I don't know why, with all their threatening and all they told me while in the vehicle, I was never afraid for once. The only thing I did was beg them to please reduce the tightening of the cuff on my right hand because I took drip some few days ago on that hand. DO you know what they did?...... The one sitting close to me tightened it the more, that was when I knew I actually wasted my time begging. My hands were numb as if blood wasn't flowing to the upper part of my fingers.

On getting to the station, I saw another of my brother just right infront of the Police car, I was surprised on how he got there so fast. The Policemen refused to take me inside the station, the just parked their vehicle outside and came out leaving me inside.

To cut the long story short, it all ended when my other brother saw one of the policeman, luckily, they knew each other, probably, the one he called over the phone. They talked politely and it ended that I got released after much ranting. They opted that I must delete the video, I opened the phone pattern and they used their hand to delete the video.

They actually wanted to cease my phone but my brother pleaded with 1,000 naira and collected my phone.
That was how I got home and maybe, just maybe my arrest saved the bus driver and his conductor from being hurt or maybe killed.

My question is: Is it bad to capture shots from recent happenings? What happened to eye-witness report?
Is the Policemen finding it implicating to capture events involving them?
If they get to arrest everybody who capture live happenings, how then do we get informed through social media platforms?

According to them, I was infringing on their personal right. The citizen or civilians who capture these happenings don't they have rights? Is it against the law to capture live events when the police is involved?

I was actually a victim and till now, My hands still hurt from the effect of the cuff.
