The AITEO CAF awards 2018 took place in Dakar, the capital city of Senegal; an event that started off with a legendary football match between Team Africa Vs Vintage Senegal at the Lèopold Sèdar Senghor stadium in Dakar.
Team Africa was made of African legends who proved their mettle on the African continent: Nwankwo Kanu of Nigeria, Michael Essien of Ghana, George Weah of Cameroon, Samuel Eto'o Fils of Cameroon, Didier Drogba of Cote D'Ivoire, Jeremy Ngitap of Ghana, Abou Terika of Egypt and others.
While the Vintage Senegal team comprises of the 2002 squad.
The event kicked off at 16PM CET in Dakar and hosted by former CNN anchor and journalist Isha Sesay and Aboubacry Ba.
The award ceremony saw legendary coach Hèrve Renard named CAF Men's Coach of the Year for the third time while the Super Falcons of Nigeria emerged as Women's National Team of the Year three times in a row for their heroics in the AWCON in Ghana; winning the competition a record 8th time which includes five consecutively.
