Ekiti State based Afe Babalola Football Club have been barred from further participation in the 2016/2017 Bet9ja Nigeria National League for contravening the League rules.
According to the League Management, the club violated articles 14.7, 14.10 and 14.11 of the rules guiding the League by consecutively failing to honour three (3) matches. For article 14.11 rule, they failed to honour their games with :
1. Adamawa United
2. FC Taraba and
3. Jigawa Golden Stars
Therefore, the NNL has also ruled that all matches played and yet to be played by Afe Babalola are not valid any more. Consequently, the fixtures and League table in the Northern Conference will be adjusted accordingly.
FC Taraba Gets Caution For Absence In Match Day Nine
For failing to honour their match day nine fixture against Federal Road Safety Football Club-FRSC of Abuja, FC Taraba have been cautioned by the League Management for violating article 4.7 in the 2016-2017 rule Book.
FC Taraba are to be mindful of the consequence(s) of their action in the case of a three match miss,as enshrined in articles 14.19 and 14.11.
They are equally, to pay N1,000,000.00 (One Million naira) fine as spelt out in the rules within seven (7) days on receiving the notice served.
Again in keeping with same article 14.7 FC Taraba have been declared losers of the match by three (3) points and three (3) goals.
