RIVERSAT50: MISS CHARITY OGWUTUM WINS MISS RIVERS GOLDEN JUBILEE PAGEANT

RIVERS STATE CROWNS MISS GOLDEN JUBILEE
As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Rivers State which kicked off in late January, there was a beauty Pageant Contest among other events and activities which took place at the Marquee Hall in the Presidential Hotels Port Harcourt on Friday 12th May.

The winner goes home with One million Naira and a brand new SUV Car. Miss Charity Ogwutum from Obio/Akpor LGA won the contest and was crowned Miss Rivers Golden Jubilee. 

The event was aired live on National Television by African Independent Television (AIT) from the kick-off of the show on Friday night till the early hours of Saturday morning. Amongst present invitees are dignitaries from around Rivers State and beyond. Rivers State born Nollywood actresses, Monalisa Chinda and Ibinabo Fiberesima were present.

Star performance to spice up the event came from RnB Pop diva Omawummi Megbele, other artist from Port Harcourt, comedians and different dance groups performed live on stage.

The Governor, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, his wife Justice Eberechi Suzzette Wike and the Vice Mrs. Ipalibo Banigo Harry were all present at the venue.

The Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike called on the contestants of the Rivers State Golden Jubilee Beauty Pageant to ensure that they develop themselves to contribute to the growth of the state and the country.

He spoke in the early hours of Saturday morning after the conclusion of the Rivers Golden Jubilee Beauty Pageant which witnessed Miss Charity Ogwutum (Miss Obio/Akpor) emerge as Miss Rivers Golden Jubilee.

Governor Wike said all the 23 participants at the Beauty pageant are winners as they will promote and represent the State as worthy ambassadors. He encouraged them to be steadfast in their pursuit of greatness, highlighting that the State government will support their educational pursuit.

Upcoming Oil firm, Belema Oil was part of the sponsors of the event. Gov. Wike commended the effort of the Management of Belema Oil for awarding International Scholarship to the 12 contestants who are School Certificate Holders, while the other 11 contestants were awarded International Scholarships with degrees.

"I want these contestants to pursue greatness. I want you to pursue academic greatness. After this event, don't move from office to office, under the guise of a non governmental organization ", he said.

Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike said that the Beauty Pageant brought out the best in Rivers women.

"The contestants exhibited intelligence in addition to their beauty, with this, we are proud to say they represent the bright future of the state", she added.

"I am proud to be a Rivers woman. We have everything that a man wants in a woman . These are very confident women who are sure of themselves ", the wife of the governor said.

The highpoint of the event was the crowning of Miss Charity Ogwutum (Miss Obio/Akpor) as Miss Rivers Golden Jubilee.
