According to an eye-witness, there is an ongoing communal war between the people of Izzi in Ebonyi State and Ipalla of Cross Rivers State. The clash is so serious that it has claimed more lives than expected within the short period of 3days.
Unfortunately, it hasn't gotten the attention required and as we speak, nothing is being done about it because the news have not gotten to the right channels.
The eye-witness who happens to be traveling through that region posted on his twitter handle his experience while plying the route on Sunday.
Oti's report:
According to Okechukwu:On Sunday, I was trapped in Ipolla for 4hrs due to the war. Travellers were attacked and we had to stay at a military checkpoint manned by only 2 soldiers for safety. It was a hell of a scene as that was my first time witnessing a war live pic.twitter.com/IRsKaFll2z— IkechukwuOti (@ikechukwu_oti) July 10, 2018
A rare picture of families running for safetyI saw men armed with different kinds of gun they can afford, others with matchets and either red or black ribbons tied on their heads ride on bikes to and fro the war front dangerously. Some even go with catapault and barehands as if they going to catch birds.
Oti also reported that few military men in Ogoja cantonment are sent to this war front only
when the hit is intensified as they are short in personnel and he is calling on the federal
gov't to find a lasting solution to these communities as the
interventions of the state governments are futile.
