Who is Todd Boehly, the new owner of Chelsea?
The English club has officially announced that the American will become the owner of the London club. He currently owns the Los Angeles Dodgers, is a shareholder in the Los Angeles Lakers and has a net worth of $4.5 billion.
Boehly is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Eldridge Industries, a Greenwich-based finance company. Eldridge is a holding company with offices in New York, Boston and London, and have a history of investment in industries including technology, media, real estate and sport.
Additionally, as of October 2021 he is the interim CEO of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. In December 2021 it was confirmed that Boehly was heading a bid to take a controlling stake in National Women's Soccer League side Washington Spirit.
His interest in Chelsea is nothing new, either. Back in 2019 he made a £2.2billion bid to buy the Blues from Abramovich, an offer that was swiftly rejected. But it looks like he could well finally seal a deal, something that could excite the club's fanbase.
Todd Boehly was spotted at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening after signing an agreement to buy Chelsea.
